“The concept of the album ‘Presence’ is to deliver a sound and vibe that allows the listener to feel the power of the present moment while also reflecting on the past. I think even in the sad songs off of the album there remains a sliver lining of light that can guide us out of the darkness and into a new sense of hope and purpose” Explains Kris. A true pandemic project, no doubt.

The album features 10 new original songs and a cover of King Floyd’s classic soul tune ‘I Really Love You’. The albums opening track and lead single ‘Fly With The Stars’ features a powerhouse guitar riff and a driving beat reminiscent of a Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers hit.

There are also live staples such as ‘Let’s Dance Nice & Slow’, ‘Feel It In The Air’, and ‘You Ain’t Gonna Do Me Like That’ both available on an album for the first time. There is even a track on the album with no guitar! The gospel tinged song ‘Love Hate Thang’ features Kris on the piano and organ.

The album honestly and accurately showcases Kris’ evolution as a songwriter, musician, and producer who was involved in every step of the production. He wrote and recorded the record entirely himself on his Tascam 388 tape machine. This recording is truly an accurate artistic statement and an original recording directly from the artist himself.

‘Presence’ is also the ‘Swan Song’ for Kris and longtime drummer John Fairchild AKA ‘Scooby Sha Bo Bo’. It marks their last recorded project together before parting ways after almost 17 years of recording and touring together. “For me, that’s just another reason why this album serves as a beautiful time capsule. Scooby and I had a great chemistry from playing thousands of shows together and this is a great crescendo and documentation of who we were as a team.”

Long time KLB touring Bassist, Joe Donnelly makes his first appearance on album with Kris. He is laying down the funky low end on three of the tracks: ‘Let’s Dance Nice & Slow’, ‘Love Hate Thang’ and a tune he helped write ’Time To Get To Work’. The closing track on the album.

Kris Lager is a one-of-a-kind songwriter, guitarist, singer, keyboardist, and entertainer. An intense and charismatic performer who has traveled across the country honing his craft over the last two decades . He has developed a unique 'Celebrate Life' message and mantra that emanates with every performance. A message that creates a congregation of dancing, singing, and clapping people with smiles on their faces at every show.

Many of his peers are calling him: "One of the most gifted songwriters of his generation."

World renowned musician Andy Frasco recently called Kris "His favorite songwriter!" on his 'World Saving Podcast' and said a lot of the songs for which he has built his 'positive' foundation on were written by Kris. Legendary Rock 'n' Roll Producer, who has mixed two of Kris' albums, Jim Gaines (Santana, SRV, Van Morrison, Steve Miller) says Kris has "A great voice and great songs!" Paste Magazine calls the music "The kind of toe-tapping rhythm that sometimes you just need to make it through a day."

A Lincoln native based out of Omaha, Nebraska, Kris and his band have built a reputation as a hardworking Independant band refusing to play by industry rules or pander for awards and accolades. They just hit the road and the stage with an intense purpose of uplifting and engaging audiences while delivering a flavorful gumbo of feel good rhythms and soulful songs.

New album: 'Blues Lover'

It seems like a lot of folks have gotten rather nostalgic throughout this past year and a half of the pandemic and it is safe to say Kris Lager has too. He found himself going back to his blues roots; back to where he started when he first picked up a guitar.

His first stage experiences were at a weekly Blues Jam at Duggan's Pub in Lincoln, Nebraska and also playing at the world famous Zoo Bar. Kris Frequently played alongside Nebraska Blues legends such as Magic Slim, Lil' Slim, Baby Jason, and Sean Benjamin. All of them nurturing and inspiring his love for blues music.

"I've never released a straight up blues record before and I thought.. you know what? I'm gonna go for it. I'm gonna record these songs that I've been playing for twenty years and just have some fun." said Kris. Eight of his most beloved blues songs as well as two original tunes comprise the new album 'Blues Lover'.

There's two Albert King tracks, a Shuggie Otis tune as well as Buddy Guy, Paul Butterfield, Shawn Holt, Snooky Pryor, and Blind Lemon Jefferson covers on the recording rounded out by two original songs: 'I Just Want To See You happy' and 'Back Home To The Blues' co-written by Mark Ryan.

The album was recorded and mixed by Kris Lager himself at his studio 'The Conduit' and released on his label 'Fervent Ameba Records'. The first of many self-produced recordings according to Kris. All songs were recorded live straight to tape using his legendary Tascam 388 tape machine. "This recording was exactly the sound I was going after. A squishy analog sound that gives the listener an old school vibe. A vibe that I really dig as a blues lover and I think other blues lovers will too. With the help of Doug Van Sloun from Focus Mastering I believe we achieved a great sounding recording." exclaims Kris.

The Kris Lager Band has just released a new self produced recording titled ‘Rise and Shine’. It was recorded at their home studio in LaVista, Nebraska (Studio Blue). Mixed by Chistopher Steffens at StudioPH and mastered by Doug Van Sloun at Focus Studios. “We basically took a lot of the things we had learned from working with all of our friends: Tab Benoit, Kelly Finnigan & Ian McDonald (Monophonics), Sergio Rios (Orgone), Luke Kellison (Sadson Studios), Charlie Johnson & Tim Kechley (Fuse) and a host of others. We decided it was time to take what we had learned and record our own record.” Says Kris. “Jeremiah Weir, our longtime keyboardist engineered most of the sessions and produced a lot of the record. He has been honing his skills for years and I am excited for all of our friends and fans to hear what he has captured. It is a great representation of how we sound at this moment in time and it definitely represents what we are all about as a band.”

The album features some live staples and feel good KLB anthems such as “I Got Love’, ‘The Shimmy’, ‘Rise Up’, ‘Hot Damn’, and ‘Ain’t That Just The Way it Goes’. The recording also features Some Groove oriented Bluesy numbers you have come to expect from KLB in ‘Shake it On Down’ and ‘Please Don’t Break Me Down’. In true KLB form the flavors and genres vary greatly with a Van Morrison inspired track in ‘Groove Slow’. A Bob Marley inspired song with ‘Ain’t Got No Worries’. A zydeco song dedicated to Kris’ recently departed father called ‘Standing Right in Your Lovelight’.
