In making this excellent, competent and passionate tribute to the great bluesman Slim Harpo, the Texas harmonica player Paul Orta (on his last recording, in the fall of 2017, before his death in May 2019 at only 61 years of age) and the bassist and producer Steve Coleridge have been careful to avoid the best known and most reinterpreted songs of his repertoire, thus creating an anthology somewhat alternative to a classic 'greatest hits' album. The Short Fuse Blues Band (Jeanne Wilson, Fiti, Pepe Moreno, German Ramallo and Joe Colomera) are among the other artists involved in a project long desired by the two musicians (and long postponed for Paul's incessant live engagements), produced by Florenci Mas is made with loving care by two experts and profound connoisseurs of the music of the legendary Baton Rouge musician and pioneer of the swamp blues that represents a worthy tribute not only to him but also to Orta, a great popularizer of the genre.
