Canada’s Blues Elite have teamed up with Preservation Music Inc. of Montreal for a live recording, dedicated to the memory of friend and colleague, Jeff Healey.
The Maple Blues Revue, originally put together as the house band for the Canadian Maple Blues Award, is an assembly of blues veterans and Maple Blues Award winning musicians from the Canadian blues scene.
Joining the band are Montreal vocalist Dawn Tyler Watson, 2005 and 2007 Female Vocalist of the year and Toronto vocalists John Mays, 2001, 2002 and 2004 Male Vocalist of the Year and Chuck Jackson, 1999 and 2007 Male Vocalist of the Year.
Under the musical direction of Downchild Blues Band’s bassist Gary Kendall, the Maple Blues Revue hosts other Downchild veterans such as Michael Fonfara on piano and organ, Pat Carey on tenor sax as well as vocalist/harmonica player Chuck Jackson.
2007 Juno award winner and multiple Maple Blues Award winners, Fathead, are represented by vocalist John Mays and band leader/sax player/harmonica player Al Lerman. Blues veterans Chris Murphy, baritone sax, and Chris Whiteley on trumpet round off the powerful horn section.
Guitarist Teddy Leonard (The Johnny Max Band) and Tom Bona (Raoul & The Big Time) on drums join Gary Kendall to complete the rhythm section.
