Good Time Charlie (GTC) will release album no. 13 – "boomin'". A vital release in the tracks of the debut album "Comin' Down With The Blues" (1995). Here it is time for a reunion with the original cast in great form and brand new songs that speak straight to the heart.

With their first album, GTC helped create something new in the Norwegian context. The album was praised by critics and has since gained status as a milestone among Norwegian blues releases.

GTC was founded in 1982 and is considered a pioneer band in Norway for authentic rhythm and blues, for which they have also garnered national and international recognition. GTC has been the backing band for blues legends such as Lowell Fulson, Hubert Sumlin, Pinetop Perkins and Jimmy Dawkins, among others.

The band developed its own authentic sound early on and has the ability to innovate. This has resulted in a powerful musical melting pot inspired by New Orleans Rhythm and Blues, West Coast Cool Blues, Boogie Woogie and Rockin' Soul.
With 12 critically acclaimed albums and several nominations for the Spellemannprisen, the band has left a clear mark.

After having taken a new course with the critically acclaimed, Norwegian grammy-nominee "Mojo Energy" in 2008, this "Garage-A-Go-Go!" release is a stylish and uncompromising musical experience of unashamed high energy. Purified, unadulterated real music! "Good Time Charlie is the best Rhythm & Blues band I've heard outside of the states for many years. They'll raise hell in the USA." ~Ronnie Earl. "These guys really understand ... Playing with them takes me back to the 50s." ~ Lowell Fulsom.

Since they started up in 1983, Good Time Charlie (GTC) has always been a hard working road band, bringing their energetic music to venues all around the world – Norway, Scandinavia, southern Europe, and lately also to China. Trough their 25 years on the road GTC have always been pioneers when it comes to sound and quality. They have played an important role, both as an inspiration and a legendary influence on musicians as well as blues societies and clubs up and down the blues circuit in Norway. Through the 80`s and the 90`s they functioned like a school for other bands and aspiring musicians, serving as an important inspirational guide. The solid backbeat and groove and over-all pure style have also brought GTC praise from legends as Lowell Fulson, Hubert Sumlin, James Cotton and Jimmy Dawkins and John Mayhall. Musically, GTC have always had a dedication to tradition and style and the spirit of the music. They have been as much at home playing the raw Sun sounds of Memphis as the heavy Chess blues of Chicago, the deep New Orleans funk of the 60`s as well as the swampy moods of the Louisiana bayou, the shuffle of Texas R&B and the jump and jive of the West Coast. «They really got something to tell!!» - Kim Wilson

"Oochie Coochie" is a seminal effort (four years after the debut album "Coming Down With the Blues" was released) of good-time rockin' blues and R&B from Good Time Charlie. Arle Hjelmeland's harmonica is undeniably among the best and his vocals not only suit the material, but are just plain pleasing. This CD displays the band bluesier side, but touches upon the garage-soul flavor of later efforts. Good Time Charlie played the very first Notodden Festival back in 1988 and Arle Hjelmelan was an awards presenter. The group name was taken from a record by blues artist James Cotton. A "Good Time Charlie" is a person who enjoys life, is generous and a ladies man.

«In Sugartown» is a compilation of songs lifted from the early GTC albums «Comin" Down With The Blues», «Oochie Coochie!» and «It's Alright». You will find a lot of good original material, combined with some obscure but classic rythm & blues songs.

Formed in Bergen in the early eighties, Good Time Charlie soon grew to be one of Norway's favourite live acts. Their mixture of black American music from the 40s and 50s helped define their raw, soulful and authentic sound - «The Good Time Charlie signature».

GTC as an inspirational guide
Good Time Charlie has played an important role - both as an inspiration, a legendary influence on musicians as well as the blues societies and clubs in the Norwegian blues circuts. Through the 80`s and the 90`s they functioned as a veritable school of blues for other bands and aspiring musicians, serving as an important inspirational guide. They have therefore been instrumental in setting the high standard now being followed by the new generation of Norwegian blues bands.

Godfathers of authentic blues in Norway
The band has been named the godfathers of authentic blues in Norway - and with good reason. 30 years as one of the most important pioneer bands within the authentic blues and soul genre has given GTC a reputation and status as the best R&B band outside the US in a long time.

Great stylistic span
Their solid backbeat, groove and overall pure style have brought GTC praise as a back-up band for such blues greats as Lowell Fulson, Hubert Sumlin, James Cotton, Pinetop Perkins and Jimmy Dawkins. Good Time Charlie have impressed all the legends. Why? Because they feel as much at home playing the raw Sun sounds of Memphis as the heavy Chess blues of Chicago, the deep New Orleans funk of the 60`s as well as the swampy moods of the Louisiana bayou, the shufle of Texas R&B and the jump and jive of the West Coast.
