The Big Jamboree was founded more than 20 years ago when a bunch of young rockers decided to play the 50's American music they loved. They started with the jump 'n' jive in the Bill Haley way. Their jive moved closer to black music like rhythm & blues, so they added pieces to the band until they reached the actual 8 members formula.

The band has been active since then, offering a nice catalogue of their own songs, as well as covering their favourite musicians: Louis Prima, Big Joe Turner, Louis Jordan, Roy Brown or Wynonie Harris. They have played as backing band for classic and modern rock 'n' roll legends like Mike Sanchez, Lloyd Price, Barrence Whitfield, Dale Hawkins or Roddy Jackson, not to mention the uncountable amount of artists the members of the band have played with, and the big list of bands in which they have been part of.

Personnel: Augie Burr (vocals); Manuel Casado (guitar); Marc Ferrer (piano); Cesc Miró (trumpet); Pere Miró (baritone sax); Ignasi Poch (tenor sax); Emilio Torres (drums); Juan Ramón Vega (double bass).

The Big Jamboree - 2 albums: Bang! / New Times, Old Stuff

To explain the history of The Big Jamboree you have to go back in time over two decades, back in the early 80s when they called themselves Chevy & the Hot Wheels. Then they went by the name of Big Frank Jamboree; and finally, to date, The Big Jamboree. At the end of the 90s Miguel Ángel García, ex-singer of one of the rock and roll bands widely known both inside and outside the Spanish borders (The NuNiles) joined the band and has been part of it for 8 years participating in the recording of the album "New Times Old Stuff". Since the end of 2007 it is Agustí Burriel who leads the band, coming from styles like Doo-Woop and from other bands like the Velvet Candles. In short, The Big Jamboree is a training of 8 musicians with an extensive musical career and experience on the stages, which year after year are improving their "taste" as good wine.

The Big Jamboree is a band that is dedicated to interpret Rhythm & Blues, Jump & Jive, Jump Blues and Rock'n Roll of the 50s. Its repertoire has its own compositions and arrangements of the band along with versions of themes of the years 40 and 50 of artists as important as: Louis Prima, Big Joe Turner, Louis Jordan, Roy Brown, Wynonie Harrys etc ... The good atmosphere that is breathed on stage at every moment, makes it not only a music concert where the sound basically predominates, but a musical show in which they also provide an interpretive coup of grace, as was done in the 40s and 50s. Hence its name: THE BIG JAMBOREE ("The great party"). (Translated from Spanish.)
