This description certainly fits Blues4U, a four-piece under leadership of singer/harpman Mathias Andersén and guitarist/singer Thomas Hammarlund, with a subtle rhythm section and a couple of guests to round out the sound sometimes. The longest number clocks in at just over four minutes; half of the fourteen tracks are less than three, so that many songs are in the classic blues single format. Stylistically, most fall into a Chicago or swamp-blues bag, with three diversions, respectively, into Charles Brown territory, down-home Mississippi and even a fine pop-blues.
