If Chicago Blues, Texas Rock, Southern Swing, Funk and Country had a baby, you would call it Manzanita Blues. This six piece power house of a band packs a punch! The music floats into your ears, thumps in your chest, lifts up your butt, comes out through your feet and makes you feel happy.

Manzanita Blues was formed in San Diego, California in 2017, when two of our founding members met at an open mic night and shared their passion for the blues. They had a vision of creating a kick ass blues band that would make people happy and get everybody dancing. The search for like minded players was on and before you know it Manzanita Blues was burning up stages around San Diego and East County. Playing, Don’s, Dirk’s, Wong’s, The Landing, Navajo Live, The Alibi, Josie’s Hideout, Proud Mary’s, The Barefoot Bar, The Adam’s Avenue Street Fair and became monthly regulars at Humphrey's Backstage.

The band started out playing covers by renowned artists and band favorites like Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray, Etta James, Lucinda Williams, Clapton, ZZ Top, Allman Brothers, Beth Hart, and everything in between. Eventually, original music started to seep into the mix. The crowds responded to favorably, so there was more to follow. In September 2020, See Through Records signed the band and in December, the debut album entitled “To Day” was born.

Personnel: Lisa Domkat (vocals); Mike Van Duyn (guitar, vocals); Joseph Monzo (keyboard, vocals); Gary Orlansky (drums, vocals); Karl Dring (bass); Darrell Richardson (harmonica).
