"Dan Gone West" is the debut album from Paragraph8ight, one of the three participants at this year Møblomania Blues Challenge which took place during a few days in Silkeborg, Denmark. Paragraph8ight was, according to the liner notes, formed as a quintet in Lyngby near Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1982, and the songs on "Dan Gone West" was also written back in the early years. Thus, it is an album that has been in the making for many years.
There have also been some changes in the band line-up, partly because the band's original bassist, Chris Gjerulff, sadly passed away in 2015. He was replaced by Henrik West, who now is complementing the band core consisting of Iens Simonsen (vocals), Jens Gerlif (guitar), Lars la Cour (drums) and Thomas Melau (harmonica). In addition, there's also a smaller army of chorus singers, keyboardists and horn players. Therefore it is not surprising that the sound on "Dan Gone West" is great with rich, soulful and swinging arrangements that characterize large parts of the album.
