Precious Little is an album by British blues musician Jeremy Spencer, who was a member of Fleetwood Mac from 1967 to 1971. Released on 18 July 2006, this is his fourth official solo album (his first since 1979) and was released on the Bluestown Records label in Norway, though Bluestown Records later licensed it to Blind Pig Records. The album was recorded over five days in 2005 in at the Juke Joint Studio during the Notodden Blues Festival on an analog 24-track machine. Local musicians were used to back Spencer on all tracks, because he believed that "they have retained the 'purity' of the old blues in their playing". Most of the tracks were self-penned, with the addition of covers of songs by Elmore James and Slim Rhodes. The album was produced by Kjetil Draugedalen and Gaute Fredriksen, and the executive producer was Jostein Forsberg. It was mixed at the Supermono Studio, Oslo, and was mastered by Audun Strype at Strype Audio, Oslo.

British husband and wife blues rock duo When Rivers Meetannounce their debut album ‘We Fly Free’ will be released on Friday 20 November 2020. The first single “Battleground” will be released on 9 October and is now available to pre-save from www.smarturl.it/whenriversmeet Grace and Aaron Bond release their self-penned album ‘We Fly Free’ following their critically acclaimed EP’s ‘The Uprising’ and ‘Innocence of Youth’. Their passion for blues rock shows through with an underpinning of traditional blues and classic rock. The duo have made a concerted effort to keep to a genuine, gritty sound using authentic techniques, including tube tape echo and reverb chambers, which have created a live sound that keeps a truly vintage vibe that not only has energy but is also a true representation of the ever evolving sound this duo produces. WRM show great delight that a Hammond organ has been introduced into some of the tracks on this album. This classic blues rock feel will transport you back in time while also inducing a contemporary When Rivers Meet twist. Grace sings lead vocal on most of the album, and showcases her impressive range, whilst adding distinctive slide resonator mandolin and fiddle. As well as guitar, Aaron adds rich vocals that root the songs in harmony (taking lead on ‘Breaker Of Chains’ and ‘Take Me To The River’). Recorded with Adam Bowers at The Boathouse Studio in the Suffolk countryside, it’s the perfect place to concentrate on recording with no interruptions, although you may hear the odd bird song captured in the open-plan recording space. Adam also plays drums and shares base and keys duty with Robin Breeze on some of the tracks, giving a rich depth and creating wall of sound.

Cockney Rebel - The Human Menagerie

Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel was an English rock band that began in the early 1970s. Their music covers a range of styles from pop to progressive rock, and while they were contemporary with the glam rock period, their music is not truly classifiable as such. Indeed, many feel that Harley and the band might have been more successful if they had begun their careers earlier, and had not been eclipsed by the glam rock bandwagon. Their track "Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me)", a UK Number One single, remains the band's biggest selling hit. Steve Harley (born Steven Nice on 27 February 27 in south London, died on 17th March 2024 at the age of 73)) began his musical career as a soloist in the legendary Beckenham Arts Lab founded by David Bowie. Here, he was busking (with John Crocker) and performing his own songs, some of which were later recorded by him and the band. The original Cockney Rebel was formed when Steve hooked up with his former folk partner, John Crocker (fiddle / mandolin / guitar) in 1972. They auditioned drummer Stuart Elliott, bassist Paul Jeffreys, and keyboardist Milton Reame-James. They were signed to EMI after playing just five gigs, one of the band's first gigs being at The Roundhouse in Chalk Farm, London, on 23 July 1972 supporting The Jeff Beck Group . Their first single "Sebastian", a soaring rock epic, was an immediate success in Europe, though failed to score in the UK singles chart. Their first album, The Human Menagerie, was released in 1973 to critical acclaim, and is still felt by many fans to be their best. Harley managed to irritate a significant segment of the music press with his self-aggrandisement, even as the music itself was getting rave reviews and gaining a wide audience. It was becoming clear that Harley regarded the band as little more than accompaniment to his own agenda, and already there were signs that things would not last, despite having a big hit with their second single, "Judy Teen". There then followed the album The Psychomodo, an adventurous and ambitious production which showed that there was real talent in the group. A second single from the album, "Mr. Soft", was also a big hit. The band was voted the 'Most Outstanding New Act' of 1974. By this time the problems within the band had already reached a head, and all the musicians, with the exception of Stuart Elliott, quit at the end of a highly successful UK tour. Harley's next appearance on Top of the Pops was supported by session musicians drafted in for the show. From then on, the band was a band in name only, being more or less a Steve Harley solo project. In 1974, a further album, The Best Years Of Our Lives was made, produced by Beatles recording engineer, Alan Parsons. This included the track "Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me)" which would go on to be a UK Number One single and the band's biggest selling hit. In a television interview recorded in 2002, Harley described how the lyrics are vindictively directed at the former band members, whom he felt had abandoned him - a fact which eludes a majority of listeners who enjoy the apparently happy chorus. After 1975, Harley struggled to match the success of "Make Me Smile" and faded from fame, and Cockney Rebel eventually disbanded in 1977. In 1998 Harley began to use the Cockney Rebel name again. The 2005 album "Quality of Mercy" (which included the singles "A Friend for Life" and "The Last Goodbye") was the first album since the 1970s to be released with the Cockney Rebel name In 2010, Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel began touring again setting concert dates for England, Ireland, and Northern Ireland. This was done following the release of the new studio album Stranger Comes to Town. On 24 November 2012 the band including the Orchestra of the Swan and a choir performed the band's first two albums The Human Menagerie and The Psychomodo in their entirety for the first time. A live double-CD and DVD was released in October 2013 of this performance, titled Birmingham (Live with Orchestra & Choir).

English band founded in the 1960's by Colin Cooper. Originally known as The Climax Chicago Blues Band, the Climax Blues Band has always focused on its roots, a unique combination of jazz and blues. The band has released 21 albums and had a Top 10 hit in the UK with Couldn't Get It Right. That song and I Love You were also hits in the United States ; Couldn't Get It Right reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1977, and "I Love You" peaked at No. 12 in 1981 In 1985, Cooper and Glover recruited guitarist Lester Hunt, drummer Roy Adams, and original member Derek Holt to record the Climax Blues Band album Drastic Steps, and this line-up toured in support of the album in the UK, Europe and America. The new line-up soon became established with Cooper, Glover, Hunt, Adams and Neil Simpson in the early 1990s, releasing the live album Blues From The Attic in 1993 and Big Blues in 2004. Cooper died of cancer, aged 69, in July 2008. He is survived by his wife and two children. He wanted the band to continue, as the other musicians had all been long serving (Glover since 1980, Adams and Hunt since 1985, and Simpson since 1991). Cooper was replaced by singer and saxophone and harmonica player Johnny Pugh, who retired in 2012, and was replaced in turn by vocalist Graham Dee and saxophone player Chris Aldridge. In 2019, Climax Blues Band released Hands Of Time, a new album of original bluesy funk, soul and jazz rock material that has received rave reviews. The current line-up includes: George Glover, Lester Hunt, Graham Dee, Chris Aldridge, Neil Simpson and Roy Adams

Parnes discovered 17-year-old Ray Howard at a talent show in 1959. He signed him and renamed him Duffy Power. Power had moderate success with cover versions of well-known songs such as Dream Lover and Ain't She Sweet. However, it is said that his show was impressive. Power befriended two colleagues from the Parnes stable, Billy Fury and Dickie Pride, who sometimes lived together. In 1961, Power left Parnes after a dispute. Success stagnated, Power even attempted a suicide attempt with gas. In a club, Power heard the music to which he would devote himself in the future: the blues. He joined Graham Bond with Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce and John McLaughlin. In 1963 they had a hit with the Beatles song I Saw Her Standing There. Solo Power was successful with Tired, Broke and Busted. He also recorded with Alexis Korner's Blues Incorporated. 1968 was another low in his career. Power had to do with psychological problems. It went up and down during the 1970s and 1980s. Power wrote songs and film scores and was involved in Alexis Korner's The Party Album (1978). In 1992 the album Blues Power was released, an overview of Duffy Power's career spanning more than 30 years.

In addition, a strictly limited edition run of 100 vinyl CDs will be available at Hutchinson’s upcoming tour dates, plus via his online store.

Hutchinson said: “I’ve played around 70 shows this year, many of them with Mr Brundage on harp. Certain songs became staples of our blues duo shows and the idea was to recreate that feel. We set up a few microphones in the studio and just started playing. It’s all live with no amps or fancy technology. Warts and all – just as acoustic blues should be!”

Explaining the reasons for the record’s limited run, Hutchinson added: “This is my way of saying thanks to everyone who has come to the shows this year, whilst gearing up for my debut album release with my band The Boom Boom Brotherhood early next year.”
