The material in this special collection comes from 3 Mighty Flyers albums from the 80s: "Radioactive Material", "File Under Rock" and "From the Start to the Finnish". All tracks are with Junior Watson on guitar and he was a major part in the early Mighty Flyers unique sound (although he's not on the cover artwork). These recordings helped to establish the band internationally as one of USA's most highly praised blues ensembles. Thei first album "Radioactive Material", recorded in 1981, wans't even released in the USA at the time. However demo copies made their way in to the hands of press and die hard fans and became an instant collector's item. It wasn't until 1984 when a Scandinavian record company released the album in conjunction with the Mighty Flyer's first European tour. Their second "File Under Rock" appeared in the USA on Takoma Records in 1984, but the album disappeared during a difficult financial period for the label. Drummer William Swartz left the band for a career in Nashville and was replaced by Ed Mann. Album number three "From the Start to the Finnish" was released in Finland in 1985 and in the UK on Red Lightnin' in 1986. Watson recorded one more session with the Mighty Flyers and left to join Canned Heat. Rod Piazza's reputation as one of the best blues harp players grew with each new record he made.
