It’s not often that one discovers a new blues collaboration at a wedding. That is exactly what happened on April 16th for this writer. However, the groom Frank is a huge music fan. Performing at the wedding was the Sloe Gin Gypsies. It’s a new project by Mike Connelly and Gene Kilty. This would not be the first time these two musicians have come together. They have played and written music together often. Mike was the former lead singer of the band Steepwater. Gene has performed with many blues artists such as Son Seals, Lefty Dizz, Rocko Calipari of Howard and the White Boys and once with Junior Wells.

These guys are tireless in their efforts to create good music. There is always something going on. Prior to the new project, they put together the Chicago Blues Mob. Along with Gene and Mike is Mike Boyle on bass. These guys will be going to Belfast, Ireland to perform at the Guiness International sponsored Blues On the Bay Festival at the end of this month.
