On this particular CD the band is a fabulous group of musicians that Richard Ray worked with during a recent trip to Spain. They do a great job on the variety of original songs and covers on the CD track list. I particularly liked the tracks with Raimundo Amador as a guest on lead guitar - On "Jump Back Baby", a song by Richard Ray, Raimundo really sounds smooth opposite Richard Ray's vocals and rhythm guitar work. Later, you get to hear both Raimundo and Richard Ray trading off and playing opposite each other On track 11, "The Thrill is Gone" - another favorite track of mine.

As a Jimmy Reed fan I am also a fan of track 7, "Down in Virginia", where Richard Ray does a wonderful job on vocals, lead guitar, and harmonica - (all the harmonica tracks on this CD are Richard playing live in the "rack" while also handling his guitar work simultaneously). In fact the whole CD was recorded live with the whole band in the studio for every track, giving the performances a live "vibe" to them.

This CD has a variety of different musical feels, from straight ahead blues to a funkier, up-beat sound. Although the music selection may contain some tracks that differ greatly in style, I found myself enjoying them all, especially after listening to the CD several times through. The disk has some very fine performances and is very easy to listen to. I would recommend it to both the casual blues fan as well as those who may be a bit more discriminating in their tastes. ~T.
