Jim Collins, Sean Denton, Rick Mutter and Mark Talbott collectively known as the Gryffyn band are at it again. Following the international success of their first CD, Am I Blue, the Gryffyn band's second CD, No Apologies, amply demonstrates how the band continues to grow as musicians, songwriters and producers. No Apologies represents a 2 year project culminating in an eclectic collection of some of the finest original blues, rock, funk and R&B that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. It's readily apparent that these guys truly enjoy creating and working with each other. See them live and you'll witness a group of musicians who listen to and play off each other in a way that will leave you wanting more. Visualize a tight, high energy band with great songs, stellar vocals and nearly flawless execution and you've painted an accurate portrait of their live performances.
“No Apologies” represents Gryffyn's continuing effort to contribute material to a truly American genre with a very long history. This is their passion and they trust you will enjoy listening to this collection of songs as much as they did writing and recording them.

Am I Blue is a unique blend of the full spectrum of musical experiences of it's song writers. Born of the blues but influenced by R&B, Funk, Jazz, Rock and Pop, the songs are a fresh take on a well established genre. Written and produced primarily by singer/guitarist, Sean Denton and drummer, Mark Talbott, the CD varies from straight ahead R&B to a more contemporary pop blues sound.
The smooth, soulful voice and catchy lyrics of Sean Denton capture the essence of classic blues while together as a band, Gryffyn creates a truly unique blend of music. From the cool bluesy title track, "Am I Blue" to the up-beat funk stylings of "Clean Up Man' to the jazz influenced "Earl's Boogie", The Gryffyn Band stretches out to cover the gambit of R&B. Whether you're a fan of the slide guitar, phat Hammond B3 chops, strong backbeat drumming or tight rythm sections you'll find it all on these recordings.
The Gryffyn Band is made up of veteran Seattle area musicians Sean Denton, Rick Mutter, Mark Talbott and Jim Collins. Ask them about their influences and you're likely to hear such names as Albert King, Perry Como, Sid Vicious, Captain Beefheart, Eric Clapton, Dreams, Jimmy Smith, Weird Al and Robben Ford amongst many, many others. These guys have been around the block! :)
