The swedish band The Kokomo Kings has gained a reputation of playing an uncompromising, no-nonsence brew on a variety of low-down rocking roots-music, grounded deep in the blues. They have been described as being "more rock'n'roll than rock'n'roll" and having "energy level 11". They got together in the spring of 2012, aiming to play nothing but primitive, groovy Saturday-night music made for dancing.

In October 2013 they released the full length album "Artificial Natural" that received great rewievs. Many blues and rock'n'roll fans claimed that it was the first time for many years that they listened to a blues album from the first song to the last, and just loved every second of it. In the spring of 2017 the german label Rhythm Bomb Records released their second album "Too Good to Stay Away From".

The Ameripolitan Music Awards in Memphis nominated the Kokomo Kings to best rockabilly band 2018, and the band won the "Band of the Year 2018" and the "Entertainers of the Year 2021" award from The Blues Lounge Radio Show in the U.K. In 2022 they won both the "Entertainers of the Year" and "Artist of the Year" from The Blues Lounge Radio Awards.

In the summer of 2019 Rhythm Bomb Records released their third album "Fighting Fire with Gasoline", and in 2021 their fourth album "A Drive-By Love Affair". Since the start, they've performed at clubs and festivals in Sweden, Denmark, United Kingdom, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, Norway, France, Austria, Switzerland, Estonia, The Czech Republic and Spain.

The 4th record from this amazing Rockin Blues outfit from Sweden/Denmark. Again, all songs are originally written by bass player Magnus. Delicious artwork by Henrique San. Our highlights are "Buckle Up" and "Jump Like A Chicken" both dancefloor fillers!

These four lovely guys really deserve some more attention.

The Kokomo Kings - Fighting Fire With Gasoline

Size: 77.2 MB
Time: 33:20
File: MP3 @ 320K/s
Released: 2019
Styles: Rockin' Blues
Art: Full

01. The More I Get, The More I Want (2:24)

03. The Rich Man's Pocket (2:46)
04. Tornadohead (3:08)

10. If I Was An Alien (2:40)
11. It Ain't My House (2:35)
12. Fighting Fire With Gasoline (2:15)

The Swedish-Danish quartet has built up a very large and steadily growing fan base within a very short time. Already with "Artificial Natural" and "Too Good To Stay Away From" the musicians were enthusiastic, and even though the charismatic founding member HARMONICA SAM doesn't belong to the permanent line-up anymore, the band still literally tears down every hut at their regular shows all over Europe.

Therefore the success formula - namely a perfectly rounded, groovy mix of Low Down Boogie, Rock'n'Roll and Blues in the 30's vintage sound - is only slightly varied on "Fighting Fire With Gasoline". The album title aptly describes the effect of the twelve new Scandinavian songs, all written and produced by bassist MAGNUS LANGHAMMAR.

The KOKOMO KINGS are young, sexy, hip and urban blues, mixing traditional genre storytelling with contemporary irony. In 2018 they were named "Band of the year" by the British radio show "Blues Lounge" on Bradley Stoke Radio, while in the same year they were nominated as "best rockabilly band" at the Ameripolitan Music Awards. Guitarist RONNI BUSACK-BOYSEN was named "Danish Blues artist of the year" in 2013. The KOKOMO KINGS free the blues from belly, beard and glasses.

Take a big bucket of unpolished Mississippi juke joint boogie and blend it with another bucket of laid back down home blues. Add a teacup of swamp pop, a tablespoon of hillbilly and a pound of profane, ecstatic gospel and you´ll have the Kokomo Kings. This is rock´n´roll before rock´n´roll was born. Nothing but primitive, groovy Saturday-night music made for dancing.

The band is a collaboration of some of Sweden's and Denmark's absolute top players. After years of backing a long list of international blues artists like James Harman, Mud Morganfield, Big Jack Johnson, Lazy Lester, Louisiana Red, John Primer, Big Joe Louis, Keith Dunn, Rusty Zinn and so on, and playing with a number of Scandinavian bands like The Instigators, The Domestic Bumblebees, Paul & The Blue Delivery, Peter Nande Band and many others, they decided to start a new band and do their own thing.

Finally, they got together in the spring of 2012 to record the debut 45 rpm vinyl-single “Artificial Natural”. Before it was even officially released many blues- and rock´n´roll fans claimed it to be one of the best sounding recordings for years. Get ready to boogie with The Kokomo Kings. Probably the best low down boogie band in the neighborhood!

Samuel “Harmonica Sam” Andersson: vocals and harmonica; Magnus “Treetop” Lanshammar: bass and guitar; Ronni Busack-Boysen: lead guitar; Daniel Winerö: drums.

thank you mrwalker.
