Brad Stivers (1991) is one of the most popular new singer-guitarists from Austin, Texas. He combines elements of blues, soul and rock 'n' roll and creates a unique sound. In his youth he first plays the trombone and saxophone, but later switches to the guitar. He came into contact with the blues through his guitar teacher and when Brad hears the music of BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jonny Lang and Joe Louis Walker, he becomes completely captivated by the blues. He moves to Colorado and receives a degree in The Music Business from University Northern Colorado and studies jazz guitar. He forms his own band with other students at that university and in 2012 he is allowed to represent Colorado at the Youth Showcase at the international Blues Challenge. In 2014 his band Bad Brad & The Fat Cats won the local Blues Challenge. In 2015, Brad moves to his current hometown of Austin. In 2017 Stivers will release his debut solo album. With this album, 'Took You Long Enough', he is attracting worldwide attention. On October 23, new work by Brad Stivers was released, the EP 'SIX', a collection of six songs that express his love for blues and R&B. "SIX" was recorded at Chicken City Studios, the home studio of co-producer and girlfriend of Stivers Lindsay Beaver in Driftwood, Texas. In the opening track, the uptempo blues Lose Your Love, Stivers shows with his strong guitar work that he has listened carefully to the '3 Kings' and in this song to Freddie King in particular. The organ by Barry Cooke is also wonderful. In the uptempo Three Times A Fool, the name of BB King is literally mentioned. The guitar solo is spectacular and the fat organ solo is a feast. Just A Memory is fine R&B with beautiful saxophone work by Sax Gordon. The tempo is pushed completely in the sweet ballad The Very Thought Of You, a song by Ray Noble and known by Billie Holliday, Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett and quite recently also by Michael Bublé, Stivers with his subdued vocals in the role of crooner. In Turn Your Damper Down, the throttle (thankfully) opens wide again. A fat guitar solo, a tinkling piano and Stivers in duet with Linday Beaver. The EP ends quietly with Your Turn To Cry, an R&B ballad with beautiful guitar licks. Conclusion: 'SIX' is just a good EP made with a love for blues and R&B.

Brad Stivers is a natural – a young, soul-stirring blues and roots singer, songwriter and guitarist from Austin, Texas, playing and writing in the great American tradition. Just barely in his mid-twenties, Brad is in the vanguard of the next generation of musicians who will shape and define those genres in this century.

Along with a recent tour to Italy and Switzerland, Brad has been touring regionally and soaking up the rich musical atmosphere of the Austin blues rooms. His fan base is expanding as fast as his horizons, and he has his eyes on a West Coast and Midwest tour. Brad plays with his own band and spends his off-nights sitting in or filling in with other musicians on the scene. For TOOK YOU LONG ENOUGH, Brad dips into the deep Austin talent pool to employ the services of acclaimed B3 Organ player Bukka Allen, guest singer Malford Milligan and singer/pianist Emily Gimble.
