Right now, you are holding something very unique. This is the Mönsterås Blues Band’s very first live-recorded CD, after more than 4 decades of countless concerts and tours around Scandinavia and northern Europe. Over the years, the band have managed to record and produce 13 albums - all made in a studio. However, when the 40-year milestone came closer, the band decided it was time to do something they’ve never done before - an album made from a live concert, the bands 40-year anniversary concert. In front of a crowded and excited audience at Folkets Hus in Blomstermåla, where people from the whole of Sweden came to be a part of the exclusive blues party, the Mönsterås Blues Band performed an unforgettable act. During the night, the crowd not just only got to see the band as it is today, but also a flashback of members that all have been a part of the band over the years. Keyboard players Erland Jacobsson, Lasse Hamnede and Eva Bergquist all took part in some songs during the night, as well as bassist Bosse Johnsson and drummer Thomas Idebrant. However, that was not all Mönsterås Blues Band had planned for the night. The band had invited some of Sweden's most influential and talented blues artist to perform with them on stage. Sven Zetterberg, Knock Out Greg and Pelle Lindberg all joined the band on stage and together they made some extraordinary acts, all found on this CD. 40 years is a long time. The fact that Mönsterås Blues Band have managed to keep the band together with no pauses during all this years - three of the original members; Calle Engström, Peo Fahlström and Mats Grönqvist are still in the band - is truly remarkable, especially due to the fact that all members have had both families and full time jobs on the side. Blues music can be a lot of things. When it comes from Mönsterås, mixed with a hint of blues giants like Kirk Fletcher, Lurrie Bell, Lucky Peterson, Sonny Boy Williamson, Eric Clapton or John Mayer, it becomes that special Mönsterås Blues Band-music that thousands of music lovers fancied since 1974. This is not the end of Mönsterås Blues Band. In fact, they see the first 40 years of their career as their training - and they are now preparing for the future. It all starts here, with this live recorded CD. And there is more to come.
