London-born guitarist and vocalist Nick Woodland, one of the veterans coming out of the British blues-rock scene, was inspired by those like Alexis Korner, Eric Clapton, John Mayall and Peter Green. Woodland started out on guitar at age 15 and was nearly one of the original Rolling Stones in the sixties. Since those days, he stuck to the message of rhythm'n'blues gaining some fame among insiders as one of the hottest live-acts around. The South-German newspaper, one of Germany's biggest dailies, wrote: "Nick Woodland is among the best live performers of the white blues."

Based in Munich (Germany) where he now resides, Nick Woodland has played his guitar for a whole lot of different bands in rock (Amon Dueuel II, The Clash), pop (Donna Summer, Boney M) and jazz (Herbie Mann) and recorded five albums with Germany's top act Marius Mueller-Westernhagen. With his own band he has been touring Europe extensively for many years, working the field between blues, rock'n'roll and country music. The band's live potential is well documented on their CD "Live Fireworks" that gives further proof of Nick Woodland's being a "helluva guitar player."

Londonse Nick Woodland is among the veterans of the English blues-rock scene. Inspired by the great British bluesman such as Alexis Korner, Eric Clapton, John Mayall and Peter Green, he began to play the guitar very young by embarking on a varied artistic path between pop, blues and even jazz (next to Herbie Mann). Its range of action expands further by embarking on a real feeling with the rope, mandolin and mandolous instruments included. The new album The Current That Flows is a return to simple blues where the elegance of solo interventions represents a fundamental prerogative of Woodland's style. Even the reference to Dylan (of which we find here a version of almost seven minutes of New Pony, but also songs by David Lindley and Bo Diddley) is not negligible, and indeed, every pure reference to the American folk is processed and acquires different characteristics from time to time. With The Current that Flows the German ENJA - German label are also the musicians who accompany Woodland: Klaus Reichardt, guitars, Walter Zinkl, Basso and Holger Brandt, drums - he resumes a promising journey dedicated to the blues from which it is hoped can be remarkable surprises.

On his new album "Cult Factory Vol. 1 -- Authentic Heads", the man with the dark bowler and the British accent delivers a dozen originals that match up with the best from the rock-blues-country inflected singer-songwriter genre. Nick's new songs lead us to Arizona and London, to pubs and parties and of course back to the good old days. Thanks to digital studio devices, Nick and his Munich buddy (and co-producer) Manfred Mildenberger shine as a gorgeous two-man band.

German Jazz Podium reads: "Woodland's guitar sounds like Stevie Ray Vaughan come back to life -- or like Eric Clapton on speed." Since the early 90s Woodland has been German singer/musician/poet Ringsgwandl's "chief guitarist" in uncountable concerts all over Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Says Ringsgwandl: "I know nobody else who plays all kinds of guitars, acoustic and electric, picked or slide, and who is into each and even the most obscure style of the last 80 years, and also plays mandolin, mandola and some other things with strings."

"One of the great. A brilliant guitarist," says Neues Deutschland (Berlin), and German daily Süddeutsche Zeitung calls him "one of the best live performers of white blues." London-born Nick Woodland is among the veterans coming out of the British blues-rock scene. Inspired by the likes of Alexis Korner, Eric Clapton, John Mayall and Peter Green, Woodland started out on guitar at age 15 and was almost to become a member of the Rolling Stones when Mick Taylor left the band. Based in Munich (Germany), Nick Woodland has played his guitar for many bands in rock (Amon Düül II, The Clash), pop (Giorgio Moroder) and jazz (Herbie Mann) and recorded five albums with Germany's top act Marius Müller-Westernhagen. With his own band he has been touring Europe extensively for many years, working the field between blues, rock'n'roll and country music. He also played the guitar for several theater productions and films.

Since the early 90s Nick has accompanied German singer/musician/poet Ringsgwandl in uncountable concerts all over Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Says Ringsgwandl: "I know nobody else who plays all kinds of guitars, acoustic and electric, picked or slide, and who is into each and even the most obscure style of the last 80 years, and also plays mandolin, mandola and some other things with strings. If you are looking for a guy who is also a proper person, does not drive you mad with the usual showbiz nonsense, someone you can talk to about English literature, films and all kinds of music but who you also can stay quiet with a whole day long, and if you need somebody who has never cancelled a concert in 13 years even when struck by a heavy flu -- then you can't miss Nick Woodland."
