Joe Spinaci Combo from Malmö, Sweden, plays a mix of rhythm & blues, rock 'n' roll and jump blues but also with elements of swing and jazz rhythms. Songs and influences come from, among others, Johnny Otis, Louis Jordan, Professor Longhair, Little Richard, Count Basie, Bill Haley and Louis Prima.
The steady and groovy rhythm section consists of Mattias Nilsson (piano), Mattias Ljunggren (bass) and Ulf Göransson (drums). Johan Liedberg and Mattias Carlson add some honking saxophones, and band leader Spinaci himself is a really competent guitarist. Joe Spinaci (real name Carl Alberto Bettini), is primarily a singer with a both rough and melodic voice that is equally suitable for Afro-Latin jump blues in "That Mellow Saxophone", funky New Orleans reggae in "Burnt Toast And Black Coffee" and smooth and mellow Italian style in "Felicia No Capicia".
