Incubated in Baton Rouge Blue Room Studio by Tom and a few select guests over the time frame of 2008-2010 and expertly tweezered, mixed, mastered, and generally glossified to a shining lustre by Devon Kirkpatrick at Sockit Studio, this Album represents the cumulative shape of everything that ever stimulated the cilia along my cochlea's length to vibrate and reward the brain with a soothing bath of endorphins.

A summary of Southern stylings from the East Coast to the Gulf Coast to the West Coast flavors in soulful rockin' jazzy fatback funk with all manner of slide guitars from the Firebird (both white (as pictured on the front cover) and Dachshund/Doberman (back cover)), Les Paul, Stratocaster, Telecaster, Pete Andersen, Flatroc (my new fave...) solid and semi-hollow electric families and the Dobro and Martin acoustic families. I started this sonic sculpture as a solo endeavor while recuperating from surgery and then got tired of myself, so I invited a few friends over to sing along (Patty Houk and Debbie Landry) and/or inhale and exhale over vibrating reeds (Dave 'The Tube Guy' Long on harmonica and amp repairs...) while the stereo stew of Hammond C-3 organ thru a spinning Leslie speaker and several sorts of synthesized waveforms in both real and imaginary instrument incarnations thickened the roux in this gumbo while the percussive parts pounded a fatback funk in the foreground (please pardon the potentially annoying annihilated alliteration...).

Inundated Music is proud to announce the release of "From The Mud... To The Sky" by artist Tom Coerver & Goin' South. This album features 12 original tunes and 3 covers of energetic roots, rock and blues music from planet Louisiana and beyond. This time around, Tom joins with Patty Houk on harmony vocals, Bill Doran on bass guitar & harmony vocals and Keith Simoneaux on drums to get Goin' South with some more scorchin' slide guitar, swamp howlin', and some stompin'"down-south jukin'" grooves. Patty, Bill and Keith bring a few more flavors to Tom's gumbo with their background in silky harmony vocals, jazz drumming, upright rockabilly thumpin' bass, and everything musically from 50's Sun Americana to British Invasion harmonies to jazz improvisation that makes the sound deeper and wider while still keeping the format to a quartet or just a little "cheating" with Tom overdubbing some vintage Hammond C3 organ, spacey synthesizer or honkin' piano on the songs that begged for a little keyboard seasoning. Tom follows up his two prior "one man band" solo records (2003's "Backwater Tales" and 2005's "Waterfront View") with seven of fifteen tracks here in the "Tom plays all drums, bass, guitars, keyboards, and sings all" format again - he tends to write songs and record at odd times of day and night while the others sleep, eat or work.
